Ai Weiwei. Pequi Tree Miniature, Limited Edition, 2021

Pequi Tree Miniature ist eine Skulptur, die nach dem Werk von Ai Weiwei, Pequi Tree, 2018-2020, im Maßstab 1:100 hergestellt wurde.

Die Skulptur ist eine Künstleredition limitiert auf 250 Exemplare, nummeriert und mit eingravierter Signatur des Künstlers.

Diese Miniaturnachbildung aus Zinn, wie die 32 Meter hohe Gusseisenskulptur Pequi Tree, zeugt vom Verschwinden der harmonischen Koexistenz zwischen Natur und Mensch, vom Übergang vom Holz zum Metall und vom Sterblichen zum Ewigen, als Beweismittel und als Denkmal.

Jedes Stück wird von Hand gegossen, poliert und fertiggestellt, was zu einem halbmanuellen Produktionsprozess führt, der es einzigartig macht.

Das Projekt, eine Miniatur von Pequi Tree zu schaffen, entstand aus der Absicht der Stiftung Serralves, die noch nie dagewesene Präsentation des monumentalen Werks in ihren Installationen zu feiern, kombiniert mit der Absicht des Künstlers, Serralves und seine kulturellen Aktivitäten zu unterstützen sowie das Bewusstsein für Umweltfragen, einschließlich der Abholzung, zu schärfen.

Für jedes Exemplar wurde ein Baum gepflanzt.

Das Werk Pequi Tree wurde weltweit zum ersten Mal im Serralves-Park präsentiert.

This miniature replica made of tin, as the 32 meter high cast iron sculpture, Pequi Tree, witnesses the disappearance of the harmonious coexistence between nature and human beings, passing from wood to metal and from mortal to eternal, as an element of proof and as a monument.

Each piece is welded, polished and finished by hand, resulting in a semi-manual production process, which makes it unique.

The project to create a miniature of Pequi Tree arises from Serralves Foundation's intention to celebrate the unprecedented presentation to the public of the monumental work in its installations, combined with the artist's intention to support Serralves and its cultural activity, as well as to raise awareness of issues environmental issues, including deforestation.
